#adulting: 5 Ways to Building Self-Confidence
Ever wondered why the adults look like they know better? For starters, they do have the benefit of experience that is gained through living a longer time. That experience provides knowledge, reducing the fear of the unknown in decision making. Having also lived through failure, adults also know that failure in a particular situation is not the end of the world. This is what it means to have confidence.
When we are young, it is easy to limit our world view to the situations we are exposed to and feel that a potential wrong decision or an unfavourable result can ruin our entire life. That affects our boldness in making decisions and discourages having trust in ourselves. However, confidence building techniques are available to empower us in our growth as adults and to develop our self-belief that we can succeed.
Having confidence doesn’t mean you are invincible. It means that when you stumble, you can pick yourself up to have another go, knowing you are alright and you will succeed. Building confidence bit by bit allows us to strengthen the self-esteem, which in turn reinforces our psychological resilience muscles. As youths becoming adults, it’s crucial that we believe in ourselves because we are our personal brand manager. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you sell you to the world?
Now that you’ve learnt how to build your confidence, why not learn how to build your resilience as well!
